BlueHost Decision
I had been delaying the move of a few managed sites to space that I rent from a hosting company for some time, but pulled the trigger and made this decision November, 2007. The quick answer if I am happy is YES, I am thrilled. The longer answer that will help others with this same decision follows.
What made me make the move was the Wordpress blog I run, Consider Common Sense . This had been hosted at Wordpress and while this was free and had support through email, it also lacked some features that I wanted to add. Also, the email support was of little help, as it took days for respones and they were cryptic at best. No big deal though since the service was free. Anyway, whatever the reasons were I did make the switch just before 2008 began.
Seeking out which hosting company to move my site and future sites to was daunting and largely the reason why I waited well over a year from when I first started thinking about making the move. As I have always been very catious with my money, I wanted to make sure that I chose a company that was both inexpensive and very reliable with great customer service and the most features possible. Wanting the best while paying the least combined with wonderfully marketed company reviews and negative comments (we all know people that have had bad experiences with hosting companies) seemed to guarantee that I would never make the move.
My decision was made, although skeptically, when I noticed that Wordpress’ top recommended hosting company was also the cheapest. I decided to pay for the two year package in advance and see what happened. All these thoughts and worries for what ended up costing me around seven doalar each month. You can call this silly and I would agree, but that is how I am. I was both excited and concerned, as these were completely uncharted waters for me.
Although the price paid should mean that my expectations were very low for the service that I would get, my actual expectations were very high. Again, the short answer is that I could not be more pleased and thrilled with the products and services that Bluehost gives me, and I haven’t even tapped into ten percent of what I can use. I now have one very functional blog, eight Joomla web sites, eight business directory web sites, a family portrait site, and manage dozens of email accounts. The more thorough story will follow, but this might help for now.
I will use and review other services in future comparisons, but I will tell you now that I can’t imagine any other company surpassing the service that Bluehost gives me now, independent of price. Go Bluehost ! Please select one of the links to them from my site and let me know what you think. I will activate a blog on this site for easier responses.
